The Apollo Healthcare Property Fund acquires a Healthcare center in Amsterdam

Maastricht, December 20th, 2018 – The Apollo Healthcare Property Fund has signed an agreement for the realization of the Healthcare center “Sportheldenbuurt’  at Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam.

The realization of the property is a joint-effort with primary care provider Stichting Amsterdamse Gezondheidscentra (SAG), developer Zorg Vastgoed Management (ZVM) and construction company HSB. The development will start January 1st, 2019. The opening of the center is expected in the spring of 2020. “This acquisition of the Apollo Healthcare Property Fund fits perfectly with our objective of investing in multidisciplinary healthcare centers. The center meets the growing demand by bringing primary care closer to people.”, according to portfolio manager Michel van Oostvoorn.

Multidisciplinary Healthcare center

The Healthcare center will offer a combination of various healthcare services to the inhabitants of Zeeburgereiland. The center supports the trend of decentralization of healthcare whereby treatments from the second line (hospitals) are performed in a care center. Next to this the center provides healthcare services to enable (elderly) people with a healthcare need to live longer independently.

Long-term rental agreements

The design of the health center ensures good accessibility for visitors and optimal use by the care providers. A long-term lease agreement is signed with SAG. This primary care organization will offer various primary care disciplines, including general practitioners, a pharmacy and physiotherapy. Supporting disciplines are also represented. Paulien van Hessen, Director SAG: “We believe that everyone must be able to benefit from good primary care in their own environment. With the establishment of Healthcare center ‘Sportheldenbuurt’ we guarantee good primary care for this growing area in Amsterdam.”

Growth of the Apollo Healthcare Property Fund

Michel van Oostvoorn: “With this acquisition the Fund is expanding its exposure to healthcare centers in the portfolio. Based on the pipeline we expect to be able to announce several acquisitions in the near future.”
