Apollo Zorgvastgoedfonds acquires a nursing complex in Schiedam

Maastricht, 22 May 2018 – For the realization of a small-scale nursing home in Schiedam, the Apollo Healthcare Property Fund has concluded agreements with Gebroeders Blokland as builder and Stepping Stones Home & Care as healthcare provider.

The building will be realized in the historical centre of Schiedam. This consists partly of a monumental building (nurses house) and partly in a new building to be realized. The old nurses house will be rebuilt and renovated, while retaining classical elements. A total of 25 spacious care apartments will be realized for residents with memory problems such as dementia.

The building and Stepping Stones Home & Care as a healthcare provider fit well in the Apollo Healthcare Property Fund’s portfolio. The location will be realized within an existing residential environment and has a clear layout, which provides a feeling of safety and security. In addition, Stepping Stones offers a lot of space for personal attention. A long-term partnership has been entered into with Stepping Stones. Milko de Hart, Real Estate Manager at Stepping Stones: “We are constantly looking for suitable properties that can be used as residential care facilities. The former nurses house is very suitable for this. ” Before the start of the summer holidays, renovation and construction will start. Victor Gulickx, fund manager: “It is good to see that the nurses house is getting a function again, and is in line with the new and existing buildings in the area.”
